#LVSeries2 Exhibition Hollywood
I'm really trying to get out more in Los Angeles and that includes visiting more museums and exhibitions. I caught the Louis Vuitton exhibit on its last day (I gotta stop waiting until the last minute lol). It was so well designed! The line was super long, I think I waited almost an hour to get in but it was free so I definitely wasn't complaining. Each section of the exhibit had its own description and background. Below are a few highlights, I took A LOT of photos so I'll probably upload more to the gallery later on. The description associated with each section is the original description from the exhibit. They also included cute takeaway items (see at the bottom).
TALKING FACES
This part of the exhibition allows visitors to experience the entrance scenography from Louis Vuitton's Spring/Summer 2015 runway presentation. That highly-anticipated show took place on October 1st 2014 inside the brand new Foundation Louis Vuitton in Paris. Just days before its official inauguration.
"A beginning is a very delicate time... Day Zero in the heart of the project, code named GEHRY-014. The audience is asked to sit in a place that doesn't exist for now.
A ship surrounded by a gigantic woodland, a ship made up of three thousand and six hundred glass panels and fifteen thousand tons of steel, a ship that serves as an incubator and ignites our fellow creative minds.
An undisclosed location at this time. Oh yes, I forgot to tell you, today, October 1st, the LV House wants to explore the ability to travel to any part of the universe without moving. The journey starts here, in this place soon named FOUNDATION LOUIS VUITTON..."
ACCESSORY GALLERY
"I have always loved creating accessories. For me, they are always connected to the collection, they hold an integral place in the creation of an ensemble, either juxtaposing or complementing the outfit. They take on the same intentions and have the same aim as the clothes. A silhouette is a complete look." –Nicolas Ghesquiere
The gallery features model Marte Mei van Haaster's avatar printed in 3D with accessories from the Spring-Summer 2015 collection. The accessories resonate with pieces from the Louis Vuitton archives like the shoe trunk that belonged to the legendary actress Greta Garbo.
POSTER WALL
Photographed by Annie Leibovitz, Juergen Teller and Bruce Weber, the "Series 2" advertising campaign for Spring-Summer 2015 carries forward the idea of allowing the three artists' vocabularies to confront one another.
This polymorphic triptych illustrates an international vision of fashion through its chosen locations and each photographer's interpretation of Ghesquiere's Spring-Summer 2015 collection. The Poster Room also features fashion stories by Patrick Demarchelier and Juergen Teller.
BACKSTAGE
48 models. 25 make-up artists under Pat McGrath's direction. 25 hairdressers under Paul Hanlon's direction. 40 studio staff. 40 dressers. One designer; Nicolas Ghesquiere. Jean Campbell will open the show. She wears an embroidered white vinyl crochet dress.
The intensity of the pre-show ambiance comes through in a lush, high-energy and ultimately tender fresco by Jean-Paul Goude, a sublime tribute to the urgency that takes hold just before the lights go up on the runway. The iconic French Photographer created this panoramic fresco to be joyful, never-ending tribute to fashion's creative effervescence.
INFINITE SHOW
This 360 projection room invites visitors to immerse themselves completely in Louis Vuitton's Spring-Summer 2015 runway presentation. A continual loop of the show's 48 looks lets the audience discover or re-visit the styles, silhouettes, colors and details of the collection.
